Staff did a site walk through Borers Creek Trail this spring with a contractor and noted the silt build-up within western side of Box culvert under Highway 6. The washout is coming from the highway and is preventing the seed from establishing along that slope. To slow down the water and prevent soil washout, the contractor will be installing rip rap (loose stone) on the south side of the concrete walkway so that silt can no longer washout over it. The contractor will also clean out the silt that has built up near the opening of the box-culvert entrance. This work will begin by the end of June.
Borer’s Creek is under the jurisdiction of the Conservation Authority and all work is subject to their review. If you have any questions, please contact my office.
