In February, Council supported a motion by Councillor Partridge to speed up the construction of a key section of the Waterdown east-west bypass. The stretch of the bypass from Centre Road to Avonsyde Boulevard will be final-designed by Dillon Consulting, a consulting firm that has been working on the bypass project for the last decade. This motion was also supported and recommended by staff, and will speed up construction.
The Avonsyde Boulevard road section of the bypass is connected to Dundas Street and Parkside Drive, and is well used. The next section of the bypass along Parkside Drive includes a round-a-bout where Avonsyde joins Parkside. On Dundas Street at Avonsyde, a right turn lane will be added when that section of Dundas is upgraded in the future.
The bypass section from Centre Road to Highway 6, known as Waterdown North Drive, will be constructed by the developers in that area. Barring any issues, Mosaic Drive to Centre Road section will be under construction 2019 to late 2020.
