There are unfounded rumours about a new subdivision development being built at the end of Tansley Terrace off Flamborough Hills in Carlisle which were brought to my attention. Apparently a sign was posted at the end of Tansley Terrace and flyers delivered to surrounding properties showing a “future plan of subdivision” of 12 homes coming to the area off Carlisle Road, backing onto Tansley Terrace. The perception is that the subdivision will be built in the near future. This is false. Planning staff have confirmed there has been a development freeze for the past 15 years or so, which is still in effect for the entire Carlisle rural settlement area. No new housing subdivisions will be allowed, nor have any applications been submitted. Part of the reason for the development freeze is due to the capacity issues with the municipal water tower system. The current system does not have the capacity to supply water to any additional homes and under no circumstances would staff or I approve any further development of subdivisions in Carlisle.
