On January 8th just after 9:00 am police were called to two separate accidents in Flamborough involving school busses on their way to drop off students. At that time the weather was not cooperating and due to icy roads both buses slowly slid into ditches. No students were injured and eventually everyone made it to class.
Overnight on January 8th thieves arrived at a rural property on Highway 8. Three males arrived in a stolen vehicle and proceeded to rummage through three unlocked vehicles at the Highway 8 property. When they culprits went to leave their stolen vehicle got stuck. They were able to find keys to one of the pickups they rummaged through and left in that vehicle leaving the original stolen vehicle behind. On the afternoon of January 9th police located the vehicle with the three thieves inside. Upon approach by police two males fled on foot. One was arrested at the scene, one was captured after a brief foot pursuit and a warrant was issued for the third.
Sometime overnight on January 8th suspects damaged a lock on a vehicle parked in a lot on Main Street South. Entry to the vehicle was gained and the ignition was damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle, however, the suspects were not successful in taking the vehicle.
In the early hours of January 9th suspects rummaged through a vehicle parked in a driveway on Highway 8. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was taken.
Sometime between 3:00 am and 4:00 am on January 10th suspects broke into two gas stations in the area of Highway 5. The entrance doors were smashed or forced to gain entry. The suspects attempted to pry open cabinets and cash drawers. Various items were taken including cigarettes. The scenes of crimes officer attended both scenes. Police will be reviewing surveillance video and possible fingerprint evidence. The investigations have been forwarded to the BEAR unit.
On January 10th at 8:57 pm police pulled over a vehicle with a burnt out headlight. The driver pulled into a parking lot. Upon stopping the vehicle the driver informed the officer that his licence was under suspension. The suspension was confirmed and the driver was issued a summons with a future court date.
Sometime between 11:00 pm on January 12th and 9:00 am on January 13th suspects entered a cargo van parked in a driveway on Concession 6 West. Various tools and a laptop were taken.
