Overnight on June 10th a vehicle was entered while parked in a driveway on Spring Creek Drive. The victim’s purse was taken. There was no report of any damage to the vehicle.
On June 11th at 5:19 pm police were called to a single vehicle collision on Westover Road. Upon police arrival the motorcycle rider advised police that he had lost control while making a left turn. The driver dropped the motorcycle and sustained injuries to his right side. He was transported by ambulance and the motorcycle had minor damage.
On June 12th police observed a vehicle northbound on Highway 6 travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and the driver did not turn over a valid Ontario driver’s licence. This was because the driver was under suspension. The driver was given a summons and his car towed.
On June 12th a male entered a business on Ofield Road South. He selected merchandise and left the store without making payment. He ran toward a neighbouring business. At the same time staff observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a no stopping zone. A short time later staff observed the suspect walking toward the vehicle. When the suspect saw staff he ran into a nearby wooded area. Police searched the area unsuccessfully. The illegally parked vehicle was towed. Police will be continuing the investigation and will be checking with area businesses for any surveillance video.
On June 14th at 10:30 am police clocked a vehicle eastbound on Highway 5 doing 73 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped and it was discovered that the driver was a suspended driver. The driver was issued a summons and a family member picked up the vehicle.
On June 15th at 12:25 pm a homeowner on Timberrun Court returned home to find an idling vehicle backed into his driveway. The owner then saw a male suspect leaving the entrance area of his home. The male suspect told the homeowner that he was there to see if the homeowner wanted a quote about driveway sealing. The male got into the Black Cadillac SUV and fled the area. The owner obtained a licence plate however it came back as stolen. Upon entering his home the homeowner realized that his back patio door had been pried open and various items had been taken. The scenes of crimes officer attended and took photos, collected evidence (including possible fingerprints) and spoke to neighbours. The male is described as: male, white, 5’10”, medium build, short brown hair, wearing a short sleeved shirt and dark coloured pants. The investigation has been turned over the Detective Branch.
On June 17th at approximately 10:11 pm an off duty officer observed a vehicle southbound on Highway 6 driving erratically. The suspect vehicle was swerving and mounting the shoulder. The vehicle was followed by the off duty officer who called it in. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the area of Mosaic Drive where the off duty officer arrested the driver. On duty officers attended and continued the arrest. The driver was transported to Central police station where the driver provided samples of breath. As a result the driver was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 and the suspect’s vehicle was towed.
