In a joint effort between Facilities and the Parks department, a Maglock system on the doors of the washrooms are being piloted at Memorial Park. This system will allow the doors to automatically lock and unlock at specified times which will eliminate the need to have an afternoon shift of workers closing the building and avoid accidentally locking the washrooms too early. There is no risk of being locked in, as anyone who may be in the building at the time of it locking can still get out. The hope is to have the locks in place this summer- until then there will be afternoon shift workers available to provide access in the evenings. Currently the hours of the washrooms are 8am until 8pm. Once the locks are in place, feedback is welcomed from the community on how well they function.
