Like everyone else, I am frustrated to see that criminal activity in our communities of Waterdown/Flamborough is continuing to build this summer. Please know, other communities in Hamilton and surrounding areas are also seeing similar activity.
After hosting a Community Police Meeting last month in Waterdown to address these smash and grab/vandalism/break-ins with Superintendent Will Mason, police have recently made a number of arrests and charges; sadly, other criminals have now filled the void.
Specialty units and Beat Officers will be conducting proactive patrol and enforcement to resolve the issue when they are not responding to emergency calls for service.
Police also informed residents about a free service program they provide (“Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design”), whereby an officer will come to your home or business and give advice on how to make your property safer, deterring any types of criminal activity. I highly encourage everyone to take advantage of this free program: https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/sites/default/files/cpted.pdf
Rest assured there is an active investigation to get to the bottom of this. If you have video footage of a crime in progress or anything you think may be helpful, please contact the Police 905 546 4925.
With Kind Regards,
Councillor Judi Partridge
