The Flamborough-Waterdown chapter of 100 Women Who Care had their first 2021 meeting (zoom) on January 14th and raised $9,200.00 for Migrants Matter.
The group of volunteers that form Migrants Matter support the local migrant workers (approx. 200) by creating awareness and enhancing inclusiveness in our community. They provide support to the workers that includes: Welcome Bags (with basic toiletries and food staples) when they arrive, holiday dinners, winter clothing and work boots, (as donated) and so much more throughout the season. Social events will resume when it is safe to do so.
The monies donated by 100 Women Who Care will be used for a specific upcoming project designed to gift each worker in the Migrants Matter, Flamborough network.Migrant workers leave their families for months at a time to work for our local farmers. They are vital members of our community and they appreciate all of the community support they receive.
