City staff are looking for your feedback on the future expansion plans that will affect Waterdown/Flamborough and all our communities in Hamilton to determine where to accommodate population growth and job creation for the next 30 years. This is called a Lands Needs Assessment (LNA), please watch the video and have your say. The LNA is prepared as part of the City of Hamilton’s Growth Related Integrated Development Strategy (GRIDS) and the Municipal Comprehensive Review. This video explains what a LNA is, why the City is doing this work, and summarizes the key findings of the draft LNA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob4HCqM3KFY
GRIDS is a big-picture planning process that evaluates the current and future land use, infrastructure, economic development and financial implications of growth for the next 30 years (where everyone will live, finding land that can support new businesses for jobs, etc). Staff will prepare scenarios and present recommendations to Council committees this year, no later than October 2021. Learn more: https://engage.hamilton.ca/grids2mcr
Council has requested that the Province allow the City of Hamilton to delay its submission of its Growth Plan until thorough informed consultation with residents has been conducted on the growth concepts and the preferred growth concepts, to ensure that everyone can have their say.
