Residents of Carlisle need to be aware of significant water usage. Staff monitor water usage very closely to maintain adequate fire water storage through a daily target amount of 1,170,000 litres (1,170m3), and regularly use the roadside sign located at the 4 corners in Carlisle to update residents on water usage.
To address over usage, the Carlisle Conservation Committee of 10 residents (C3 Committee) was formed in 2015 to assist city staff and myself to develop a water conservation management plan specifically for residents on the municipal water system. It is critical that Carlisle residents reduce their household water consumption, particularly through lawn watering with sprinkler systems.
Members of the C3 Committee, in partnership with the City of Hamilton, have created a great online conservation resource tailored for the residents of Carlisle. This website includes the history of water use in Carlisle, conservation tips, lawn care tips, plant selection, videos, and watering restrictions along with up-to-date information about our daily water use. Please visit www.hamilton.ca/C3 and take advantage of this resource to do your part to help Carlisle conserve water.
