Dear Residents,
Many are concerned with the increased number of COVID cases and access to vaccines. I wanted to provide you with an update on the COVID-19 vaccine and distribution plans. As you have most likely heard, vaccines have begun arriving in Ontario, most notably through our own Hamilton Airport yesterday. Vaccines are currently in limited supply, but as supply increases throughout 2021, everyone who wants a vaccine will be offered one free of charge.
Public Health and city staff are working with partners from across the health sector to better understand how the vaccine will be distributed in Hamilton- the City’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will coordinate any local support that is required.
It is important to note however that even with the vaccine, especially during this Christmas/New Year’s celebration, it is still going to be vital that public health measures of physical distancing, wearing a mask, washing hands often and staying home when sick still be practiced.
For more information at this time, please watch the COVID-19 response media briefing from Monday December 14.
Please keep safe, be well and protect each other.
Kind Regards
Councillor Judi Partridge
