Healthy Youth Network (HYN) is a Waterdown local based charity that provides resources to assist youth of all ages and parents to help families navigate the challenges of mental health and opportunities open to our youth. For all the parents whose children will be teens soon, or are in the middle of the teenage years, the new Parent Place portal is a great starting point of information and resources developed by local parents, professionals and in collaboration with feedback from the community – please visit http://parent.healthyouthnetwork.ca/
Over the past 15 years I have been very pleased to support the Healthy Youth Network (HYN) which is also supported by partnerships with Hamilton Public Health, Hamilton Board of Education, City of Hamilton, Waterdown YMCA and many others. This is an important conversation with youth for all of us to have about empowering them. It is essential for everyone to support the mental health and well-being of our youth. Join me and let’s see what we can do together.
The Healthy Youth Network (HYN) team has spent hundreds of hours taking the information they had provided for youth through the Youth Portal launched in the Fall, (youth.healthyouthnetwork.ca) and putting it through the lens of a parent. They have added additional categories, such as Building Stronger Families, and addressed the questions they thought parents would have. As parents themselves – some just out of the teen years – they could reflect on what they wish they had known, and want to share that with you.
