Exactly how are your taxes determined ? It’s an important question that needs an explanation to understand the many services your taxes go towards supporting For example: if you do not have municipal water or sewers, you are not charged for them. If you are in a rural area, your taxes for fire services are less than they would be if you lived in the urban area.

If you are live in Ward 15 (east Flamborough, Waterdown, Flamborough Centre, Carlisle, Freelton, Millgrove), and have more questions, send an email to Judi.Partridge@hamilton.ca with your address and permission for city staff to investigate on your behalf, we will get you answers.
Since your taxes are based on MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation), you may wish to request a re-evaluation of your property assessment.
It is very common for most of us to understand tax dollars going towards Garbage, Recycling, Snow Removal, Police, Fire, EMS, etc. The photo above contains a comprehensive list of services for all residents that your tax dollars support.
Approximately $70 million is being invested into the construction of the Waterdown North Corridor East West and Waterdown Road North South Bypass that is underway and continuing. Other ongoing services include park improvements and garbage collection for Memorial Park, Joe Sams, Courtcliffe, Millgrove Community Park and approximately 13 other neighbourhood parks in Waterdown/Flamborough. Your taxes support maintenance of all cemeteries including burials and beautiful waterfall parks of which we have many. Tax support is provided to Public Libraries, Memorial Halls, Halton and Hamilton Conservation Authorities, the RBG and other citizen owned buildings of which there are many in our community. There are numerous cemeteries in Flamborough alone which taxes support. Roads, sidewalks, street lights, stop lights, ditches, culvert replacements and on and on.
