Staff have confirmed that outdoor Skating rinks are still open and operational during the enhanced COVID-19 measures announced by the Province on January 12.
The Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park Skating Loop and the Freelton Park Rink are open for reservations. Thank you to staff who worked with my office to make sure that the outdoor ice could be safely opened this season despite COVID – we appreciate everyone’s patience with the new procedures.
Our outdoor winter activities are continuing through in the Grey – Lockdown, with extended hours of operation from 8am-11pm and enhanced public health safety measures in place. Find the details for all the winter activities and COVID-19 safety measures at www.hamilton.ca/winter. Our outdoor skating rinks continue to have a limit of 25 skaters at a time (10 for the Freelton park rink) and require reservations.
As a way of ensuring that local residents get to access and enjoy our outdoor skating, and to discourage those from the outer areas such as Toronto/Brampton/ Mississauga who are in lockdown, reservations are available for Flamborough and Hamilton residents only.
While this year will look very different for skating outdoors or at arenas, following protocols will be of the utmost importance. Extra staff will ensure everyone follows the rules with fair opportunity to skate.
