Staff are holding a live virtual public meeting on Thursday October 15, 2020 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm to provide an overview presentation of Phase 2 of the Waterdown Secondary Plan, answer questions and present project materials. Feedback will be used to develop the vision for how the Waterdown core should evolve in the future, and to create specific policies and directions to implement that vision.
You can participate online or by phone. To register for the meeting and submit your questions in advance, visit engage.hamilton.ca/waterdownnode. Materials are available online to review before/after the meeting until October 31, 2020.
If you have any questions or would like to submit comments about the study, please submit them to firstname.lastname@example.org
Staff are currently in the process of conducting planning projects in Waterdown, including the Waterdown Community Node Secondary Plan Study, the Waterdown Transportation Management Study, and the Waterdown Village Built Heritage Inventory. Waterdown has not had a secondary plan since before 1990’s when it was the former Town of Flamborough. There is an increased sense of urgency of residents especially concerning older properties in the core area.
As you know, the Waterdown community has been under siege with development for many years resulting in excessive traffic congestion and overdevelopment. At this link, you will find information about a motion I put forward at Council that was passed in May 2020 for an Interim Control Bylaw (ICBL) to protect our Waterdown core area of Ward 15 Waterdown/Flamborough. This ICBL protects the Waterdown core area from further development, within the core boundary of the Secondary Plan, until it is complete and approved by Council. It will give residents the opportunity for input, and staff the time needed to complete the studies necessary for heritage inventory protection and a transportation master plan as all three are being done at the same time. The ICBL does not affect any approved development site plan applications which will move forward as planned.
