As we all try to navigate what has uncomfortably become the “new normal” during the COVID-19 situation, let us please be mindful of the stress and anxiety that is affecting each of us, our children, youth, seniors and our precious furbabies. Taking care of each other’s well-being and mental health is so important, especially during the difficult times we are all experiencing. I encourage each of you to please take steps to support one another while practicing safe respectful distances.
Families: As a mom myself with two sons living in other provinces, I miss my boys very much and wish they were close by. So I am also thinking of those with family who live far away and are not able to be together. Thank goodness for texting and facetime!
With the closures of libraries, parks, schools, events and more, it’s an unprecedented time of restlessness for everyone. Let’s keep creativity flowing and help share ways on social media to stay connected with friends, grandparents, family and classmates – or share your favourite new way that you are having fun while staying active at home.
Please note that Hamilton Conservation Authority trails have now been closed to promote physical distancing. City of Hamilton Playgrounds have also been closed but everyone is welcome to take walks in greenspaces and our neighbourhoods while keeping the 2 metre/6 foot distance rule.
It is so important that we remember that by staying inside, keeping the 6 foot distance rule and taking proper precautions, we are helping to take care of others and their loved ones.
